Eddystone Beacons interact with both iPhone and Android devices, whereas Apple’s iBeacons only works with iPhones.

Google’s Eddystone has one more feature to its proximity marketing arsenal which is that it URL links with their mobile updates which is an advantage over iBeacons.

Eddystone is able to transmit three different frame types,  UID meaning sending messages in text with a certain string of characters, the same way iBeacon works.

The two other frame types are URL where messages can be links to sites and TLM allowing administrative data and functionality to transmit from the beacon itself.
